Made from Dolcetto grapes, this is one of the most widely-grown wines in the Alba area, with unmistakeable properties that are synonymous with quality and care
The Dolcetto vine is one of the most widely-grown around Alba. Mentioned in some documents around the year 1593, when it was regulated by the commune of Dogliani, it became popular as a table grape thanks to its high sugar content.
There are different appellations relating to a wide variety of Dolcettos grown in the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria. Dolcetto d’Alba is a fresh young wine with an intense ruby red colour showing delicately purplish highlights, a nicely vinous, fruity scent, and an appealingly bitterish, dry taste.
Awarded with the “Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin” status by Presidential Decree on the 6th July 1974.
