Nebbiolo d’Alba, a well-known classic premium red from the Langhe made from Nebbiolo grapes
The Nebbiolo grape-variety is grown over a vast area in the Langhe and Roero stretching partly to the right, but above-all to the left of the River Tanaro: the whole territory includes the communes of Canale, Castellinaldo, Corneliano, Monticello, Piobesi, Priocca, Santa Vittoria d’Alba and Vezza d’Alba, as well as part of the communes of Alba, Bra, Baldissero, Castagnito, Diano, Guarene, Magliano Alfieri, Montà, Montaldo Roero, Monteu Roero, Pocapaglia, Santo Stefano Roero, Sommariva Perno, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra, Roddi and Verduno.
Ruby red of varying intensity, tending to garnet on ageing, Nebbiolo d’Alba has a minimum alcohol content of 12% by vol.
With a delicate scent showing mainly violets, it matches perfectly with all Piedmontese cuisine.
Awarded with the “Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin” status by Presidential Decree on the 27th May 1970.
