In the spectacular setting of the Grinzane Cavour Castle, in live streaming with London – new for 2023 – and with New Yorkin the presence of Antonio Galloni, world-renowned wine critic and Vinous CEO, on October 27, 2023 the third edition of the charity event to raise funds for non-profit organisations and projects will take place under the careful direction of Christie’s auction house. The first edition, held in October 2021, raised over 660,000 euros, with which 17 charitable projects were financed. In the second edition in 2022 over 834,000 euros were raised, 20 charitable projects were financed and, thanks to the generosity of the producers who made their bottles available, the historic Oenological School of Alba was supported. Also this year, the proceeds will be donated to social projects and initiatives, in the fields of health, research, the arts and culture, as well as schemes promoting social inclusion and the safeguarding of the Italian cultural heritage. Barolo en primeur is a social responsibility project promoted by the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation, in collaboration with the CRC Donare Foundation ETS and with the Consortium of Protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani: a charity auction in aid of socially useful projects in Italy and abroad, offering this year 12 barriques of a prestigious wine such as Barolo still being aged in the barrel.

When the wine will have completed the ageing process, in 2026, each barrique will yield around 270 bottles, which will be numbered and marked with a label specially created by an internationally renowned artist. In the previous edition, in addition to the barriques, were auctioned 10 municipal lots made up of the finest bottles of Barolo
and Barbaresco
produced by the wineries belonging to the Consortium of Protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani, coming from harvest 2021.

This year the 10 municipal lots are again confirmed, while the number of large formats provided by the producers who joined the project is growing considerably. In fact, a total of 1034 bottles of 0.75 lt, 242 of 1.5 lt and 61 of 3 lt were collected. Barolo en primeur is confirmed as a noble and concrete initiative to promote Barolo and its territory and to support various socially useful projects in Piedmont, Italy and around the world.

NEWS OF THE THIRD EDITION

The auction of municipal lots will begin online as early as Friday 6 October, thus extending the time frame for submitting offers, available to anyone who wishes to participate on the site: www.theauctioncollective.com.
